Kevin, Bobby, Deborah and Brenda, please accept my heartfelt sympathy at the passing of your dad. He and your mom were always unfailingly kind and decent, attributes I deeply appreciated as a teenager and which I appreciate even more now. Please know that my family’s thoughts are with you during this heavy time.

Dear Phillips Family,
I can’t tell you how sorry I am at your Father’s passing. He and my father Larry Richards were good friends and co-workers. Both of your parents were very dear to our family. I have had the pleasure of receiving Christmas cards from your dad over the last few years since your mom passed. Please know that his wonderful kind caring nature traveled far and we are all better people for having known him. May you find comfort in your memories and peace in the knowledge that he is with your mom and the Lord.
With Sincere Sympathy,
Kristin Richards Schoelkopf

For CMSGT (RET) Mr. Robert Ronald Phillips

WHEREAS, in the providence of God’s wisdom, He has brought to a close the life of CMSGT (RET.) Mr. Robert Ronald Phillips, the officers and members of the St. John Institutional Baptist Church deem that it is only befitting to express our sympathy to his entire family and to Sis. Brenda Phillips, who is a part of our own St. John family during this period of sorrow in the passing of your loved one.

WHEREAS, the passing of CMSGT (RET) Mr. Robert Ronald Phillips is the will of God, but there is a human tie that has been broken which bleeds the heart in agony and pain. We urge you to be encouraged and consoled in the words of Jesus who said, “I will never leave thee nor forsake thee”. Abiding in peace with God’s decisions brings consolation. You have our sincere prayers and support.
“No matter what your trials are, or how big your mountain seems;
The Lord is there to see you through; He’ll go to all extremes.
So if your cross seems hard to bear, and you know not what to do;
The One who loves you most of all will be there to see you through”

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we embrace the family because there is a common bond that will connect us for the rest of our lives. The bond of Jesus Christ!

BE IT ALSO RESOLVED, to the entire family of CMSGT (RET) Mr. Robert Ronald Phillips, we know your loss is deep and your sorrow is great, but we want you to know that we share in your sorrow, but more importantly, we recognize that we are in place in this world for a limited time, and with the breath of the infant begins the race to the grave. A race everyone must run. We know that we all must abide in peace with God’s decisions. We acknowledge that His Will must be done and that we must hold His divine decisions in the utmost esteem. We commend you to Him who knows best and who will always do what is best. You have our sincere prayers and support.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: This letter of comfort will be given to the family of CMSGT (RET) Mr. Robert Ronald Phillips and a copy will be retained in the church archives.
