Gary Kunce, Age 76 of Colorado Springs, passed away on September 18, 2018. Gary was born in Joplin, Missouri October 18, 1941 to Adrian and Edith Kunce. After graduation from Borger (Texas) High School Gary attended Frank Phillips Junior College and West Texas State University where he earned a BS and an MA degree in History. He taught for three years in Amarillo, Texas and moved to Colorado Springs in 1968 after marrying his wife Cathy. For the next 32 years he taught at Wasson High School and served for a number of years as a department chairman. In 1997 he was one of 15 recipients statewide to receive the Governor’s Award For Excellence in Education. Mr. Kunce had dual careers and was employed at Seven Falls from 1970 to 2004. From 2000 to 2004 he served as the Director of Operations at Seven Falls. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cathy; a son, Michael; a daughter, Amy and her husband, Gary; grandchildren, Haley, Brett, Alysia, Weston, and Allie; and great-granddaughter, Addie. He was preceded in death by his brother, Adrian Kunce of Fritch, Texas.
At his request there will not be a public funeral. Those who desire may make a contribution in his name to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
