James Patrick Rhue

February 27, 1949 ~ May 28, 2019 (age 70)

James Patrick Rhue, 70, passed away May 28, 2019 in Colorado Springs. He was born February 27, 1949 in Chicago to Leonard John and Margaret Roberta (Scheid) Rhue.

At the very early age of 1 his parents moved the family to Colorado Springs, CO. Jim attended Divine Redeemer Catholic Church and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1968. He then went on to Colorado State University to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing. He was the quarterback for both the St. Mary’s Pirates and the CSU Rams. He graduated CSU in 1972.

Jim’s passion for retail real estate began immediately as his first job after college with General Growth Properties, where he served as Director of Leasing for their western regions. Four years later, in 1976, he founded Shopping Center Enterprises, Inc. Jim had a prosperous career as an entrepreneurial shopping center developer due to his business acumen, passion and relationship building ability. He proudly operated SCE for 43 years.

Jim was an avid sportsman. He loved the game of football and golf. He had the fortune to attend multiple Master’s golf tournaments which he cherished. His favorite team was the San Francisco 49'ers and later the Dallas Cowboys. He loved trout and deep-sea fishing, as well as camping. Above all, his favorite moments were spent enjoying time and holidays with his children and grandchildren.

He will be best remembered for his “Loving Fiercely” to all he knew.

He is survived by his children, Jared & Tess Rhue, Jason & Kelly Rhue and Hillary & Stefan Langer; grandchildren, Emma, Ella, Joshua and Jennavieve; siblings, Bonnie, Bob, Tom, Jack, Mary, Bill and Mike; and last, but not least his best buddy, Bandit the cat.
