Raymond Mark ZimmermanFebruary 16, 1950 ~ March 11, 2019 (age 69)
Ray passed away March 11, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by his family. He lived in Monument for 32 years. Born in Vancouver, WA to Margaretta an Arbra Zimmerman. He graduated with honors from Battle Ground High School in 1968, received his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Washington State University in 1972 and his Masters of Systems Management from University of Southern California in 1988.
Ray is survived by his wife of 49 years, Arlene (Brown); his children, Michael (Mary Delgado) of Colorado springs, Julie (Jacques Hinkley) Zimmerman of Littleton; granddaughter, Brenda (Jerome III) Tivis; great grandchildren, Ayloni, Jerome IV, and Gabriella Tivis; sisters, Mary Zimmerman and Carol (Ross) McFadyen; brothers, Edward (Betsy), Donald (Faye), William (Peggy); and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins.
Ray grew up on a farm, worked as a logger, served as an officer in the US Air Force, and he retired as an IT Project Manager. He also taught at University of Phoenix in Colorado Springs and Denver for over 20 years, teaching business management, statistics and mathematics, at the undergrad and graduate levels. Ray was a Boy Scout leader, a member of Sertoma and the Practice Management Institute.
In recent years Ray enjoyed spending time with family, writing his memoirs, sharing stories and reminiscing. He looked forward to spending the month of October on the family farm in Brush Prairie, Washington driving tractor for Bi-Zi Farms Pumpkin Patch.
A memorial service will be held in May at Mountain View Cemetery, Clark County, Washington.
