Scott Switzer, 57, passed away on June 1, 2019. He was an Instructor and Senior Instructional Designer in the Faculty Resource Center at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Scott worked with faculty to convert their classes into engaging, project-based online experiences and, as a Master Reviewer for Quality Matters™, he led teams of reviewers and mentored instructors to assure their courses were QM™ certified.
Scott was born in Findlay, Ohio on October 13, 1961. He graduated from Findlay High School where he ran the school’s radio station, and then attended Ohio University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. As a Resident Assistant at OU, Scott counseled many new students to help them navigate their way through college life. He worked as a video producer for the Air Force and later took a job as Chief of Visual Information with NORAD in Colorado Springs. After moving to Colorado, Scott earned his Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology at UCCS. He began his teaching career in the CU system and worked independently as a Training and Organizational Development Consultant.
His research and innovation in Instructional Design was ongoing.
Scott loved music, sports, family and friends and was a brilliant scholar and teacher. He was a technology aficionado and guru, and is remembered far and wide for his patience, kindness, generosity and quick sense of humor. Scott left a lasting impression on everyone he met and his memory will live on through these people.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2019 from 1-3PM, Phantom Canyon, 2 E. Pikes Peak Ave., Colorado Springs 80903.
