Terry "BUTCH" DeckardSeptember 5, 1945 ~ November 12, 2019 (age 74)
Terry Boyce Deckard, known to friends as "Butch," passed away on November 12, 2019, at the age of 74 years.
Born in Sherman and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, "Butch" was an outgoing and lighthearted man with a contagious smile. He was a friend to everyone he met.
Butch was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He also had an affinity for dogs, and was rarely without a canine companion.
Butch was a lover of the outdoors; boating, hunting and fishing. After taking over his parents' tire business "Deckard Tire Company" in the early '80s, he ran an outboard boat racing team, becoming the the National Champion in his class in 1987.
It was in the late '80s that he discovered his true passion, studying gunsmithing, obtained a firearms dealer's license and added gun sales to the tire store in 1991. The business became Deckard Tire and Gun Sales. Around the end 1997, Butch and his wife, Barbara moved the gun store to River Oaks, Texas. They operated it there until the end of 2001 before moving to Colorado Springs.
After a short stint as owner/operator of Rack-N-Tap, a Colorado Springs pool hall and bar, Butch returned to the business he loved most, working in several gun stores over the last few years.
