Cheryl LaCockSeptember 28, 1944 ~ September 7, 2020 (age 75)
Cheryl Rae DeGraff LaCock, 75, passed away at home on September 7, 2020. She was born September 28, 1944 in Kansas to June Mary (Marshall) & Buck DeGraff.
As a child the family moved to Albuquerque, NM. First job was at Chesterfield’s as a waitress. She would talk so much about all the country music stars she met. Like Glen Campbell, that she dated for a while, she loved all the old country music, I think her favorites were Allison Krause and Hank Williams, Sr. She would listen to her albums all day long!
Then she worked at NCR for several years until it sold to Symbios Logic. She took an early retirement and moved to Colorado. Later she went to work for the Midnight Rose & Brass Ass Casino in Cripple Creek. She loved working there, checking people’s drivers licenses at the door and meeting new people. She enjoyed all the wildlife at her home in Divide, deer, fox, ravens, etc.
She is survived by her loving husband, Phil; daughter, Desiree; a grandson she adored, Brandon; grandchildren, Octavia and Sisko.
Cheryl loved poetry; this is the last one she was working on…
Watching the moon rise
Right before my eyes
Makes me realize I am small.
As it creeps towards the stars
Towards Venus and Mars
Where Heaven has no stars
I am calm.
