Crystal Dawn (Durre) Bell

October 22, 1981 ~ August 22, 2021 (age 39)

Obituary

With deep sorrow we announce that Crystal Dawn (Durre) Bell, 39, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on August 22, 2021, from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Crystal was born to Dan and Pam Durre in Hiawatha, Kansas, on October 22, 1981.  Even as a child, Crystal always displayed an adventurous and determined personality.

After graduating from Hiawatha High School in 1999 and attending Highland Community College for a short time, she decided to join the United States Army.  She completed Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and AIT at Fort Lee, Virginia.  Thereafter, she met and married Jeremy Bell in Dawson, Missouri, in 2002.  She and Jeremy had 2 sons, Peyton, and then Conner.  The couple divorced in 2011.

After becoming a Para-educator at her sons’ elementary school in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Crystal’s interest in becoming an advocate for children with disabilities was born.  Her ability to relate to others through the personal experiences of her sons’ disabilities gave her the opportunity and courage to touch so many lives.

Before leaving Poplar Bluff, Crystal met Scott Cadwallader.  They moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where their daughter, Lilly, was born.  Crystal continued to advocate for families like hers all over the nation, speaking at conferences on the topic of disabilities and providing solutions to the hurdles that are faced.  She was continually furthering her education to gain as much knowledge as possible to better help those with needs.  No matter the circumstances, Crystal never gave less than her all.

Besides advocating for families, Crystal enjoyed running in various races around the country, spending time with her family and friends, and attending concerts, monster truck shows, and NHRA drag races.

Crystal is survived by her children, Peyton and Conner Bell, and Lilly Cadwallader, parents Dan and Pam Durre, siblings Erica Durre and Matt (Amber) Durre, grandmother Barbara Young, a niece and nephew, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Donald Young, Sr., Ernest Durre, Jr. and Patricia Durre.

If you wish to honor the memory of Crystal, monetary gifts for support of her children may be sent to Crystal’s parents, Dan and Pam Durre.  There is also a GoFundMe account @ https://gofundme.com/f/support-crystals-crew-conner-peyton-and-lilly
