Edna ScanlanSeptember 14, 1939 ~ September 3, 2020 (age 80)
Edna Cristina Scanlan, 80, of Colorado Springs passed away on 3 September, 2020. She is survived by her son, Gary and two daughters, Jacqueline and Bridgette; her husband Lambert's three sons, Bob, Steve and Paul, and four daughters, Susan, Beth, Ann and Lynne; 18 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Edna is also survived by her brother, John and sisters, Valerie and Catherine. She was preceded in death by husband, Lambert Scanlan; brother, Gabe Brito and parents Alex and Josephine Brito.
Edna was born in Center, CO and spent her youth in the San Luis Valley. She had fond memories of working with her father out in the fields and returned often to attend high school class reunions and family reunions. As a military spouse, she traveled extensively and settled in Colorado Springs in 1972. Edna was very active in the community as an Election Judge, Cub Scout Leader, President of her Sorority, and Parks and Recreation volunteer. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the Velvet Hills Chorus of Sweet Adelines International until she couldn't read the music anymore. A special memory for her was singing in Carnegie Hall with her chapter. Edna loved everything about the Holidays and would start decorating as early as she could each year. She will be remembered for her homemade Gingerbread Houses she made every year.
A Vigil and Rosary will be held 630pm, 13 September and Funeral Mass at 10am, 14 September at St Patrick's Catholic Church. The family is suggesting a donation in her memory to the Bright Focus Foundation (support.brightfocus.org) in lieu of flowers.
