Fred Kent Tousley, 88, of Colorado Springs passed away on March 10, 2021. Born in Denver, CO, on February 8, 1933, Fred’s early years were spent in various cities around the state (including Leadville and Salida) where his dad directed the construction of many roads for the State Highway Department. At the age of 6, his family settled on the “west side” of Colorado Springs where he attended Whittier Elementary, West Jr., and Colorado Springs High School, graduating in 1951.
Following graduation, Fred began employment at Timken Roller Bearing, where he worked until retirement 40 years later (with Brunner & Lay). In July 1958, Fred met Anna Buege in Minnesota at his brother’s wedding. About a year later, upon learning Anna would be visiting family in Salt Lake City, Fred purchased a ring, drove to Salt Lake, and proposed marriage. They married on December 29, 1959, and just celebrated their 61st anniversary.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Nina, and brothers, Robert and Donald. Fred is survived by his wife, Anna; daughters, Karlyn Scheiwe (Steve), Janet Popovich (John), Leslie Beers (Robert); son, Daniel Tousley; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Fred loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took pride in watching them grow into individuals that carry his lessons and wisdom in their pursuits.
