Joseph James “Sonny” Rocco, Jr. passed unexpectedly on February 25,2023 in his home from complications of Covid 19. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Joe was born December 11,1937 in Vineland, NJ and grew up in there with his parents and many aunts and uncles. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1955.
Joe was employed by the Chrysler Corp in Delaware until his retirement at age 55. He was a member of many local clubs, including the Corvette Club, Cumberland County Van Club, and the North Italy Club just to name a few. Joe enjoyed restoring classic cars and was a collector. He also spent time in his retirement building & flying model airplanes and growing exotic flowers. He retired in Ft. Pierce, Florida where he lived for 30 years working for the USDA. After his wife’s passing, he moved to Colorado Springs where he lived out the rest of his life with his son Joe, and daughter in law, Rosey.
Joe is survived by two children, his son, Joseph James (Rosey) Rocco, III of CO and his daughter, Monica (Richard) Lupi of NJ; grandchildren, Anthony Rocco of CO, Monica (Rocco) Sharp of NE, Rocco Lupi of FL and Giavanna Lupi of NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Zallena (Daghini) Rocco; his wife, Hope Silk Rocco; his son, Bryan Rocco and step-sons, Edward Silk and Kenneth Silk.
Per Joe’s wishes there will be no memorial service and his ashes will be spread at sea.
