Larry D. Jones passed away on October 5, 2020 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Larry is survived by his wife Caroline Jones, sons Stephen and Dayton Jones, daughter Sherri Edwards, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Larry was born on March 28, 1945 in Houston, Texas to James Olan and Thelma Jo Jones. He graduated from Sam Houston High school in 1964. He married Caroline, his high school sweetheart in 1965. He spent his career in Texas as a sheet metal journeyman and pipe fitter for Southern Pacific Railroad, until being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. In 1982 the family moved to Colorado where Larry started working as a foster parent in Teller County with his wife Caroline. Over many years the couple welcomed hundreds of children into their home, which had an enormous impact on them and the children they fostered.
Larry was an avid fisherman and hunter and often talked about catching the big one. He was a caring individual who always put others before himself, even battling (and surviving) cancer for over 20 years.
We will be celebrating his life on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 1:00 pm. Please join the family at 2701 N.Hancock Avenue, Colorado Springs. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Larry’s life.
