Liam Tony Rogers

May 19, 2012 ~ May 9, 2022 (age 9)

Liam “Lamby” Tony Rogers’ adventure began on May 19th, 2012, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His entrance into this world was fast and fierce and our lives hadn’t slowed down since. He was the families ‘strong-willed warrior’, as the meaning of his name suggested, bravely fighting an uphill battle for nine years, until his journey ended on May 9th, of 2022. His joy will live on in all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Liam was created with wisdom to share, contagious laughter, the cutest smile, and a love for anything exuberant. You always knew when Liam was coming, every piece of equipment he had came with wind-chimes and party beads. Following Liam’s presence in our lives, our world grew louder, busier, brighter.

Before his earthly passing, our family was given an opportunity to learn of quiet pleasures- wind through one’s hair, brightly colored flowers, flashy lights, loud and cheerful music. His favorite shows had the brightest, cheeriest characters, like Sesame Street and Vampirina. Disney songs filled the house, as loud as Lamby wanted. Our most precious memories have one common theme: they were busy, loud, and a little chaotic. Our Make-a-Wish trip to Disneyworld had his favorite characters come to life, a train to Hogwarts. Liam and Aedan dancing and laughing at Bob Marley’s restaurant. He’d been coast to coast, he either loved or hated the water, he loved the sound of rivers, and oceans, the sirens of firetrucks during parades, and the splashing of animals. But the second he got splashed, game over, he wanted to go home. He enjoyed parties, and the attention that came with seeing his extended family. He loved the attention our pets gave him and would often fake a cough for some extra love.

Liam also relished in solitude, peaceful afternoons swinging on the porch or under his favorite tree, being cuddled up in his favorite people’s arms for naptime, and his annual camping trips to Westcliffe. As he grew in age, so did the glamor of his stay in the mountains of that small, lake town. The community of Westcliffe was always welcoming and never looked at Liam like he was “different”. Inclusivity was an important aspect of Liam’s life, and we’ll make sure it continues to be part of ours.

Liam is preceded in death by great-grandfather and great-grandmother, Gervis and Gypsy Mindykowski, Tony and Francis Sinacola and Lloyd and Audrey Ervin. He is survived by his mother Mandy Mindykowski, his father Jesse Rogers, siblings Gianna and Aedan Rogers, and half-sisters Brinley and Aubrey Rogers. He is also survived by grandparents, John and Mary Mindykowski, Stephanie Rogers and Mike and Gloria Rogers, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and the Bess family.

God gave us the gift of pain so that we can react when something goes wrong, the severity and length of your pain is a testimony of the value of the person you lost. Liam- our hearts will ache forever. We will miss you dearly, sweet boy. Your greatest gift to us was opening our eyes to the world.

“So, with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” – John 16:22

Liam’s celebration of life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 1712 S. Corona Avenue, on Saturday May 28th at 1:00 pm with plenty of music.  A reception will follow the memorial.
