Peter Michael Karnincic
November 1st, 1929 - February 9th, 2021.
Pete passed away on the morning of February 9th. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather. He was most of all a great man. After falling in love with the mountains of Colorado he made his home here. Soon after, he met his wife Patricia of 51 years at the Antler’s hotel downtown. He and she had many friends who they loved to spend time with. They called Cascade Colorado Home for over twenty years. Pete became an avid hunter, fisher, and skier, spending time in the mountains that he loved so much. He also loved sports of all kinds. He was a Semi-Professional Football player in his youth and as he aged, he became a sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Broncos and the Rockies play. He was always a hard-working man. In his youth he worked the Docks in Philadelphia to support his family after his father had died. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and was honorably discharged after fighting in the Korean War. With the experience he gained in the Navy as a radar specialist flying aboard the first ever night fighters, he made his living working on and in the mountain (NORAD.) He toured the world helping to build Radar installations for the D.O.D. Pete retired from a division of Ford where he had worked for 35 years. After his retirement he often commented on how he wished he had not retired so soon. He continued to keep himself busy in several ways. He maintained the house that he had designed and built for his wife. He also loved to stay in shape by going to the gym. He was able to keep his mind sharp by reading and doing crosswords and sudoku puzzles. He did all these things up until his final days. He was a stern man, always stoic, but he always wanted the best for his family and all those who he knew. He loved his family more than anything in the world. He is survived by his son Peter D. his daughters Karen and Kimberly his grandson Dominic and his wife Jessica, his grandson John as well as his sister Maryellen Zitzler her husband George and several nieces and nephews.
Rest in Peace Pete. You will always be remembered. And you will always be loved admired by your family, much more than you could ever know.
