Porfirio Amadeo Serna

September 11, 1934 ~ January 1, 2022 (age 87)

Obituary

Porfirio “Pete” Serna passed away peacefully on January 1, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in La Garita, CO on September 11, 1934 to his Parents Leandro and Dolores Serna. He grew up there and married Betty Olguin on December 29, 1956 in Taos, New Mexico.

He was a dedicated Jehovah’s Witness for many years and read his Bible daily. He found strength in reading the Bible and would often share scriptures.

Pete enlisted in the Army for a short time and then settled in Colorado Springs where he and his wife Betty started their family. He worked for the City of Colorado Springs Street Division for 30 years and retired in December of 2004. He also had a passion for landscaping. People would often stop by and compliment him on his beautiful yard.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Elena, Juanita, Cecilia, Ramona, Ruth, Charlotte and Billy. He was the youngest and was known to be the most “spoiled” of them all.

He is survived by his wife Betty, his children, Reggie (Karen), Gerald (Magda), Marsha, Darla (Ray), Dolores (Jimmy) and Gilbert, grandchildren, Joshua, Megan (Craig), Marissa (Alfredo) and Ashley and his great-grandchildren, Brenne, Jayden, Arianna, Silas, and Grayson.
