Sayrelynn Uridil Nyce of Colorado Springs, known to friends as Cee Cee or Sally, passed away in her home on April 2, 2023 at the age of 78. She was born on August 3, 1944 in Hastings, NE. She graduated from Kenesaw High School, studied at the University of Nebraska, and soon began a career as a registered nurse. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Betty Uridil and the loving mother of Sayre Nyce, of Silver Spring, MD. She is survived by her brother, Steve Uridil, and his wife, Pam, of Mesa, AZ, and is preceded in death by her sister Barbara Hoban. She is also survived by her three nieces Kelly Carlisle, Charstin Sheffield, and Coba Hunt and their families.
Cee Cee grew up on the Cottonwoods Farm in Kenesaw, Nebraska on the banks of the Platte River. She married her college sweetheart Douglas Nyce in 1963 for 17 years and travelled the world, living in Rochester, Philadelphia, Japan, and Baltimore, where Sayre was born.
Moving to Colorado Springs in 1980 to be closer to family, Cee Cee shifted from nursing to working for Spectranetics, a medical device company, where she helped get federal approval for a medical laser. She returned to school to earn a B.A. in Communications, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1997 from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Cee Cee had a zest for life. She took an enthusiastic and generous approach to everything she did, including decorating and art, gardening, dancing, traveling, and walking her much loved rescued greyhounds, Cairo and Patra. She held a special place in her heart for college football, especially the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Above all, she was a devoted mother and friend. Her laugh was contagious, and she loved telling and hearing cherished stories of family. She was especially adored by her daughter, Sayre, and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
