Wallace James Johnson was at home surrounded by his family when he went to join his Heavenly Father peacefully on July 13, 2020. He died from a stroke due to diabetic complications.
He was born on August 17, 1947 in St. Paul Minnesota to Albert & Elizabeth Johnson. He was part of the first graduating class of Kellogg High School in Maplewood, Minnesota 1966. He served in the US Navy on the USS Galveston CLG3 from May 1968 to February 1970, visiting ports in the Mediterranean and Vietnam. After being Honorably Discharged, he worked as a Custodian at Anoka-Hennepin School District #11 in Anoka, Minnesota. After 29 years of service he retired in December 2007.
He enjoyed spending time with his family. Some of his favorite things were helping with school projects, playing basketball, baseball and pool, building snowmen, biking, and camping. He also enjoyed cooking, attending car shows, fishing, home and garden shows, working around the house and remodeling. He has a collection of over 250, 1:18 scale model cars; Western and Indian artifacts, and a 1952 Buick Super classic car. He loved watching old Westerns with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. His favorite TV shows include Colombo, A-Team, and Hart to Hart. Movies he liked watching with his grandson, Brandon, include: Jaws, Dinosaurs, and Volcano movies.Before moving to Colorado Springs in May 2018 he enjoyed working on the farm caring for his British White Cattle.
He was proceeded in death by his parents. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Connie; they had four children together: Tammy & Kevin, Edd, Dave & Joely and Sam; one adopted daughter, Maggie & Steve; and Step daughter Sue; eight grandkids, Mike & Ali, Jazi, Brandon, Emily, Rebekah (Step), Heather (step), Melissa (step), Morgan, Lexy, Alyssa (step), Maggie (step), Stephanie, Elizabeth, Athan (step), Melanie (step) & Jared, Bobby (step); great grandkids, T.J., Scarlet, Ben, Penny and Baby Storm, Lexi (step), Callie (step), Tori (step) and Ben (step); sisters, Barb & Russ and Ellie & John, brother, Bob & Maria, and brother-in-law, Art & Shelly; many Nieces and Nephews.
Memorial service will be held at Word of Life on August 8, 2020 at 11:00 in Princeton, Minnesota. 6888 Highway 95 NW Princeton, MN. 55371
We will be Celebrating his Life with a BBQ at our home in Peyton, Colorado date to be determined.
