Mr. Walter Dean Vest sadly passed away on the Spring Equinox, March 20, 2023, at the age of 88, at a long-term care facility in Castle Rock. He died due to a short illness after eight and a half years with Dementia.
He was born December 11, 1934 in Nebraska to Elizabeth (Ayers) & Arnold Vest. He was the son of a farmer and the second of four children. At the age of 19 he joined the Army and traveled the world as an MP. During his tour in Korea, he was injured and left the Army. He served from 1953 to 1956.
Walter was married three times. He adopted his wife’s baby son and raised him as his own. This first marriage ended in divorce. His second marriage also ended in divorce. He was married a third and final time to Polly L. Parrish, a divorced mother of five; together they had another daughter in 1975.
He had many jobs over the years, Farmer/Rancher, Police Officer, EMT, Landlord and Salesman.
Walter lived with his daughter, Jennifer, for many years; she eventually became his caregiver until he had to move to a care facility. He was there from 2014 to 2022 until his final move where he passed.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer; his adopted son, Arnold Dean; his grandson, Scott Campbell, Jr.; his sister, Betty Evans; several step-children, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Polly (Schoonover) Vest; a brother, Kenneth; a step-son, Jarrett; a sister, Bonnie; both of his ex-wives, as well as other family members.
